Last weekend my wife’s good friend Anna asked if I could provide a photo booth shoot at her daughter’s 6th birthday party. It was a bit last minute (my wife forgot to tell me until the night before!), but because I’d never done something like this, I leapt at the chance and said yes. I’m glad I did because it was really good fun. The children were queuing up all afternoon with various different props, from wigs and moustaches to police helmets and truncheons!
The constant stream of children didn’t leave much room for creativity so I only had time for one lighting setup (2 softboxes, front on, with a cloud background). However, the fun being had by the children more than made up for it and this is evident from all the smiles in the resulting photos.
I’d definitely recommend a photo booth shoot to other parents considering it. If you have a child that loves dressing up with friends, and this is of interest, then please get in touch. If you’re one of the parents who’s child attended Lara’s party, the password protected album is here and Anna has the password. Enjoy!
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph Cody, a lovely little boy with one of the cheekiest smiles I’ve seen (as this photo proves!). I used this opportunity to try out some coloured gels on a black background. I loved the effect and hope you do too. Click continue reading link to see some more photos from the day. Continue reading
With just a week to go until Christmas Day, little Abigail decided she needed to pop into the studio for her first photo shoot. She enjoyed it very much and had a big smile on her face throughout the entire shoot. Follow the link to see some of her Mum and Dad’s favourite photos. Continue reading
Over the past couple of years, my wife and I have been working on a house renovation which included a photography studio in our basement. Towards the end of 2015, that studio became a reality with the first client in the door being Anna and her family. I felt a little rusty having not done much photography during the renovation, but I soon found my rhythm and enjoying photography once again! A long exposure shot of Bodiam Castle’s south east corner
Bodiam Castle is possibly one of the most photogenic castles in the UK. With it’s simple square shape, four turrets, draw bridge and moat on all sides, it’s reminiscent of the castles all kids attempt to make on the beach. It’s probably this simplicity that makes this castle so charming and a wonderful photography subject. Read on to find our more about this castle, how to photograph it and when to visit.
